first week in calgary!

and it's bloody freezing!! well apparently it's not really, some crazy calgarians wander around in nothing more than jeans and a shirt, but after more than an hour walking around outside generally leaves me and ger aching and numb! the coldest it's been since we arrived is only -14 degrees, so i'm really quite worried about next month which is supposed to be about -30 on average! anyway, enough about the temperature. have almost kicked my cold in the butt and have been whittling away my days while ger's at work by getting lost in the city. bought some long-johns in the weekend and am wondering why i didn't on the very first day we arrived! have been out to dinner a couple of times with some of ger's workmates and they all seem really friendly and are our age so we're not lonely :). we have both noticed people in calgary are generally extremely friendly. i went to the supermarket today and the check-out chick had the whole queue in conversation! went to the zoo yesterday which was rad (oh how i love the zoo!) and finally saw a moose! YEAH! :D have put some pics up on the gallery to summarise our first week in calgary :)

so far so good :)

still living in the sheraton, but have looked at a couple of apartments. they were ok but we didn't fall in love with them. it shouldn't be too hard to find a place though.

hope you are all nice n' warm!

lots of love, d xx

Awesome hun! Thanks for the update and all the pics. I particularly liked the squirrel one (he he I love squirrels too) and the snow owl was pretty cool. There didn't seem to be many people around - are there others in Calgary? ;o)

hey d,
clearly calgary's big draw-card is its bouncing squirrels. kawai-ii!
although personally i'm quite partial to those cute little red pandas :-)
i'm so glad it doesn't fall below zero degrees in this town... x est

hi honey-pies! :) thanks for your comments, man i miss you fullas. yep, the squirrels are little bouncing balls of joy and ger is getting very sick of me squealing spastically with delight every time i see one. believe it or not trines, there is meant to be a population in this here town of about 1 million. i think many of them must be hibernating.... personally i like the small-town feel though :). love you guys xx
