have just worked ALL weekend. something i haven't done since life in japan. but i tell ya, working in a HORRENDOUSLY busy cafe is hard yakka compared to sitting in a booth at nova chatting to japanese people. i know i sound like a nana, but my feet hurt, my back aches, my arm muscles are sore, and i'm a little cranky. THANK GOD i have tomorrow and tuesday off. maybe i'll just spend the two days relaxing in the bath! that would be damn nice but instead i'll go to the travel agent for some prices and info for the south america trip. and time to buy some new undies and some hair dye :)

hola!

how are you guys? i'm all good. life has mostly turned out exactly as hoped here in the 'rei. have been at mokaba cafe for a week now and am really enjoying it. first pay should be tomorrow - woohoo!!!! feels good to be earning again, that's for sure. and I really like having a fancy cafe lunch on the house every day :)

debs has been brave enough to give me a few driving lessons recently and i'm SLOWLY improving. still need to practise those 90 degree turns and don't even ask about reversing or hill starts, but I'll get there!

had a bit of a shindig here last night. debs turned 36 so it was party time at the kwak house! i got behind the 'bar' and made her her very first pina colada. downstairs was pretty crazy with the 80's anthems booming from the speakers and a handful of more energetic old fogies shaking their asses! hehe (including me, of course).

i had some very exciting news last night. my argentinian is coming to see me, all the way from china!! i have seen a copy of the tickets but still can't quite believe it. he will be here in 2 and a half weeks for 10 days and i'll take that time off work to show him around our beautiful country. with the hope that he'll come back again one day ;)

have a day off today but the weather's not too hot so i might just rattle around here and try to pick up my paintbrush. am sitting in front of the telly right now watching a tribute to steve irwin, that loveable doofus.

on the road again

buenos noches! como andas? todo bien?

it's been a couple of weeks of nothing much happening, hence the lack of blogging. basically just been sleeping in, painting a little, helping the folks pick out tile, paint and carpet samples, eating toast, drinking coffee and talking on the phone til sparrow's fart. Such is the glorious life of an unemployed bum. BUT today i started my new job!!!!! and i actually loved every minute of it. i wasn't supposed to start til monday but someone called in sick so they called me in and i was a bundle of nerves coz, being a saturday, and being the most popular cafe in town, i KNEW it was gonna be chaotic. and it was, but pleasantly so... nice people - customers and workmates. and i only dropped a spoon and a knife! i am just so dang happy to be working again, and working at such a groovy place, and FINALLY earning money for my next adventure :)

right, so, next thing on my 'to do' list: get my drivers licence :)
